About Our Moura

The Mission

Welcome to Our Moura.

This site was created by a local (me), for our awesome locals and especially for our wonderful newbie locals, who will undoubtedly ask all the same questions that I asked when I first moved here (and I asked a lot of questions). The aim, is to compile all the answers to those questions, and create a one stop resource of information and local knowledge that can be accessed at anytime and especially by the people who aren't active members on the local Facebook community pages.

Our Moura is not a tourism website. There are plenty of professional tourism websites out there that showcase all the wonderful attractions and points of interest in and around Moura, so there was no need to create another one. Instead, this site is more like a knowledge dump, a place that gathers all the "need to know" bits of knowledge that are important if you want to make Moura your home town. Countless times on the community Facebook pages, I see posts from residents asking questions like "Does anyone have the name of a good plumber?" or "Who services and installs aircons?" and the question that gets asked repeatedly "Who in town is a Justice of the Peace?", well now you will have a Moura specific directory to search by either category or by keyword to find that information yourself.

While this site is my creation, I realise I don't know everything, so I eagerly invite your input and welcome your feedback, as I want this site to grow and become a valuable tool for everyone in the community. Also, if you have a local business or you provide a valuable service to the Moura community and would like to be included in the Directory, you can contact me via the form on the Contact page.

The Goals

  • Create a compilation of all the little Quirky Facts that make living in Moura unique
  • Create an Information Page listing all the very important contacts for our town, so you can find what you need at a glance and is also printable to pop on your fridge
  • Create a searchable Directory of companies and individuals who provide a service to Moura area. This includes our local businesses and tradies and also companies and individuals from surrounding districts who include Moura in their service area.
  • Create a town Events calendar where you can see month by month what is happening in the town and what is coming up in the coming months.

Bin Day and Recycling

Bins with the red lids are collected weekly on a Tuesday or Thursday, depending on which section of town you are in. Please check with the Banana Shire Council to find out which area you are in. Council provides a second bin to every household and this is for cardboard recycling and these are collected every other week.
